Your Brow Appointment: Do’s & Don’ts

Permanent Microbladed Eyebrows

Y A Y, you’ve decided to book an appointment with us at Bliss Permanent Cosmetics to get your brows done!  With Hairstoke Brows (Microblading) or a Combo Brows, we are confident we will help you achieve the brows you’ve been dreaming of!  In saying that, there are a few do’s and don’ts before, during, and after your appointment that will help you achieve the high end results you are after!

DO

Do show up on time for your appointment.  At Bliss we ensure your appointment is booked with adequate time for best results. So not showing up on time could result in your technician to have to rush through your appointment in order to stay on schedule as we are booked solid everyday.

Do follow the before and after care instructions.  These instructions are in place in order for you to get the best results from your procedure. Not following the aftercare instructions will result in substandard results. More information about all pre or post care is on the service tabs but also feel free to reach out to us for more information at anytime.

Do be prepared with what outcome you’d like to achieve.  When you do a little research on what type of brows or photos of brows you like, you are more likely to be satisfied with the result, that being said DO have realistic expectations. We will still follow your skin type, face shape, and bone structure when deciding on style, shape and color. However if you are unsure of what you like or what will look best on you, rest assured all appointments include a consultation. We always measure your face, draw a shape, and if there is anything about the drawing you aren’t happy with, just let your technician know and she will adjust it.

Do feel free to show your technician photos of brows you like and photos of you with your brow makeup on to get a feel of what look you are going for. If you have no idea what you’re looking for (which is common) no problem!

Do ask any questions or bring up any concerns you might have before, during and after the procedure.  We understand this can be a nerve-racking procedure so we want to keep lines of communication open at all times.  Please refer to our FAQ section where there are tons of questions and answers or contact us at anytime.

Do let us know if you feel sensitive during the process.  We numb the brows before and during the procedure to assure you are comfortable throughout the entire appointment. Everyone has a different pain tolerance or are a lot more sensitive when it is their time of the month so if you need a little extra numb, no problem!

DON’T

Don’t consume any alcohol 24 hours before your appointment as this can thin the blood and cause bleeding during your appointment. Bleeding can affect color retention.

Don’t take any Aspirin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen unless medically necessary, 48-72 hours prior to your appointment. Tylenol is fine to take.

Don’t come to your appointment with a sunburn as the burn or tan will exfoliate the color causing the pigment to fade more than expected. The area will also be more sensitive.

Don’t work out the day of the appointment as the body heat expands the pores. It is recommended not to sweat heavily for the first 10 days after the procedure as sweat is salty and can permanently fade the treated area.

Don’t plan any Botox or Filler in the area for 2 weeks before or after your procedure.

Don’t expect perfect results after the first appointment.  This is why we include a touch-up appointment in the initial cost is because the touch-up is essential in creating beautifully shaped brows.

Don’t panic if your brows seem too light or you have lost some color during the healing process. Every skin takes pigment differently, so we like to keep it conservative at the first session as we can always darken them up on your second appointment.

In some cases we can add more strokes to the brows at the second session to create more density, darken the color or tweak the shape. Some clients even find on their second appointment they desire ‘more of a makeup look’ so we will simply add shading to the brows to create a combo brow. Some clients can get a nervous with shading initially but in lots of cases it actually will appear more natural doing a combo brow then just microblading alone. Shading can be done very soft and light, or dark and bold, depending on what look you’re looking for.

Don’t be surprised if your new brows take a little getting used to.  Having a new brow shape and color can be a big change for some clients. The first 3-5 days the brows can be bolder, and more dramatic looking but don’t panic, this is normal! Once the brows heal, they will have a very natural and soft appearance.

Most importantly, don’t be shy or leave any vital information out. With a little bit of research and preparation for your brow appointment it will be a fun and exciting experience!  We want you to be comfortable and enjoy your time with us because we enjoy having you!
