So you’ve decided to book an appointment to get your brows done! With microblading, ombre shading, or a combination of both, you’re sure to get a result you love! That being said, there are a few do’s and don’ts before, during, and after your appointment that will help you achieve the dream brows you are after!
Do show up on time for your appointment. You don’t want your technician to have to rush through your appointment in order to stay on schedule as we are booked back to back.
Do follow the before and after care instructions. These instructions are in place in order for you to get the best results from your procedure. Not following the aftercare instructions will result in substandard results.
Do be prepared when asked what brow-look you are hoping to achieve, such as shape, color and size. When you do a little research on what type of brows you like you are more likely to be satisfied with the result, that being said DO have realistic expectations. We will still follow your face shape, and bone structure so that is a huge factor in deciding on what shape can be done. Example: creating a high arch brow on a straight brow bone will not look correct when giving facial expressions. That being said, we can still tweak your shape a bit. For example: clients with lower brows, we will raise the tail as much as we can to open the eye more.
Do feel free to show your technician photos of brows you like and photos of you with your brow makeup on for them to get a feel of what look you are going for. If you have no idea what you’re looking for (which is common) no problem! We will measure your face, and draw a shape, and if there is anything about the drawing you aren’t happy with, just let your technician know and she will adjust it.
Do ask any questions or bring up any concerns you might have before, during and after the procedure. We are happy to share any information you may be wondering about and want to keep lines of communication open at all times. Please refer to our FAQ section where there are tons of questions and answers on there.
Do let us know if you feel sensitive during the process. We numb the brows before and during the procedure to assure you are comfortable throughout the entire appointment.
Don’t schedule anything immediately after your brow appointment. This isn’t a one-size fits all procedure and sometimes it can take longer than the two or so hours allotted for your appointment. You want your technician to be able to take their time and you don’t want to be worried about getting to your next appointment on time. Keep in mind, it is a tattoo and you wouldn’t want your tattoo artist to be rushed. For a brand new set of eyebrows, we book 2 hours so we would suggest to give yourself extra time if you have somewhere to be after.
Don’t consume any alcohol 24 hours before your appointment as this can thin the blood and cause bleeding during your appointment. Bleeding can affect color retention.
Don’t take any Aspirin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen unless medically necessary, 48-72 hours prior to your appointment. Tylenol is fine to take.
Don’t come with a sunburn on your face prior to your procedure as the tan will exfoliate the color more than average causing the pigment to fade more than expected. The area will also be more sensitive.
Don’t work out the day of the appointment as the body heat expands the pores. It is recommended not to sweat heavily for the first 10 days after the procedure. Sweat is salt and can permanently fade the treated area.
Don’t plan any Botox in the area for 2 weeks before or after your procedure.
Don’t expect perfect results after the first appointment. The reason why we include a touch-up appointment in the initial cost is because the touch-up is essential in creating beautiful hair-stroke or shaded brows. Don’t panic if your brows seem too light or you have lost some color during the healing process. Every skin takes pigment differently, so we like to keep it safe with a lighter color that we can always darken up on your second appointment. In some cases we can add more strokes to the brows the second time around to create more density and can darken the color or tweak the shape if necessary. Some clients even find on their second appointment, they want more color, darker, ‘more of a makeup look’, or they mention they just don’t want to fill them in anymore. When we hear that, it tells us we need to add shading to the brows to create a combo brow. Some technicians make the mistake of adding more and more strokes. When you add too many hair strokes to a brow they will just blend together. Clients can get a little nervous when we mention shading being a better option, but the thing is, in lots of cases it actually will appear more natural doing a combo brow then just microblading alone. Shading can be done very soft and light, or dark and bold, depending on what look you’re looking for.
Don’t be surprised if your new brows take a little getting used to. Having a new brow shape and color can be a big change for some clients. The first 3-5 days the brows can be bolder, and more dramatic looking but don’t panic, this is normal! Once the brows heal, they will have a very natural and soft appearance.
Don’t be afraid to speak up if there is something you are concerned about regarding the pre-drawn shape or color choice. The technician is trained to shape your brows according to face size, shape and symmetry, however, they are your eyebrows and we want you to be happy with them above all else! Every person has their own preference so definitely let us know if there is anything you’d like to adjust.
With a little bit of research and preparation your brow appointment can be a fun and exciting experience! We want you to be comfortable and enjoy your time with us because we enjoy having you!
